Meta creates non-voting shares for AI buildout; Zuckerberg commits to California for 8 years

Per the FT, Meta's AI build-out now requires outside equity on a scale its founder-control structure couldn't absorb, so the company is creating a new class of non-voting shares — letting investors take economics (and Zuckerberg sell stock) without diluting his control.
In exchange, Zuckerberg has committed to live in California (or wherever Meta is headquartered) for 8 years, after telling directors he might leave. The backdrop is Proposition 40, a one-time 5% tax on California billionaires going to voters on November 3.
