A June talk by Anthropic researcher Jascha Sohl-Dickstein, addressed to PhD students at a Stanford physics and AI conference, is circulating: he warned that a PhD, postdoc and professorship are no longer safe bets and urged students to build AI into their research now, saying jobs in 10-20 years will look very different.
HedgieMarkets pushed back: weigh career advice from an AI company like a stock tip from someone who owns the stock — Anthropic's rumored multi-trillion IPO depends on investors believing AI will replace a huge amount of human work.
