Every new model forced a remake: dev open-sources AI-built MMORPG using Fable, Astra and Opus 5.5

Developer philipqnguyen open-sourced vanai (MIT), an MMORPG built almost entirely with AI and inspired by FFXI — playable at vanaiworld.com, self-hostable from GitHub.
The build log reads like a timeline of model releases:
- Fable: built the first playable open world (quests, combat), but with meh graphics — roofless dungeons, floating walls, all CC0 assets from KayKits/Quaternius.
- Astra: remodeled gear, weapons, buildings and monsters via Blender, fixed the dungeons; he kept buying limit resets on his ChatGPT Pro plan for weeks.
- Opus 5.5: another full remodeling pass, with multiple parallel agents redoing thousands of assets. Opus 5.5 also made the trailer, audio, and even signed in as multiple players to capture battle scenes.
He says he's releasing now before the next model drop makes him start over.
