He replaced his Samsung TV's ad-filled home screen using Claude Code
NelsonEU · reddit · 2026-10-22
Reddit user NelsonEU rebuilt his Samsung TV's ad-billboard home screen with Claude Code, creating a minimal launcher with just a clock, his actual apps, and console shortcuts.
Two tricks made it work:
- Faking the TV APIs: by stubbing the handful of TV APIs the launcher relies on, he and Claude could iterate on layout and remote navigation directly in a laptop browser — every tweak was a quick refresh instead of a new install on the TV.
- Taking over the Home button: Samsung offers no official way, so he followed the CleanFrame approach — a small helper that edits undocumented TV settings, backs up original values first, and restores them on failure. Only tested on a 2022 Q70B, so caution on other models.
Code is on GitHub (arn0-tv) with a full write-up on Medium.
