Cohere Labs previews CulturalRiddles, a benchmark for AI cultural understanding beyond language
Cohere_Labs · x · 2026-10-22
Cohere Labs is teasing CulturalRiddles, new research covered by Fast Company, studying whether AI models understand cultural context beyond language and facts.
The team argues that outputting text in your language or knowing facts about a culture isn't the same as understanding how people within it make sense of the world — models often misread and misattribute information across cultures. The benchmark aims to quantify this gap, with the research and dataset launching the following day.
