Coding agent stuck in a loop? Use git checkpoints and small verified steps to stop the damage
brandon_galang · x · 2026-10-22
A practical playbook for when your coding agent keeps failing on the same fix: stop letting it dig, save a git checkpoint whenever something works so you have a version to return to, and before retrying ask "how can we make this smaller? what's the first change we can verify?" Understand what that step should do and confirm it works before adding more — the same reason engineers keep pull requests small: smaller changes are easier to understand, check, and recover from.
