The Long Now Foundation, with the Protocol Institute, announced the first Long Now Labs awardees from 370+ submissions: three Book of Time prototypes each funded at $25,000 — "Lagu Hantu" by Matthew Caren & Anastasha Rachel Gunawan, "One Billion Clocks" by Eirini Malliaraki, and Sarah Friend's "Thermodynamic Clock for LLMs," which will test whether giving models access to different experiences of time alters their behavior. Nina Begus leads the Epistemic Cycles lab; results appear in a spring 2027 anthology.
