Walmart will let AI agents shop on its site — with approval and spending limits
The Verge AI · rss · 2026-10-22
Walmart will soon allow customers to connect their own AI agents to its website to shop on their behalf, with guardrails in place: users can approve and review purchases and set spending limits.
The retailer has published terms for agents, stating they "must not take actions beyond what the shopper intends" and cannot change a customer's payment method. This contrasts sharply with Amazon, which blocked Perplexity's shopping agent and Meta's Muse AI assistant. Walmart is opening its doors to AI shoppers — as long as they follow its rules.
