Developer Jason Kuperberg caught Garmin's new Personal API mid-rollout — the info pages are still placeholders, but real API keys are already being issued. He tested every endpoint and pulled his own data to build a full visualization of his summer.
From his charts, the Garmin Connect Personal API exposes:
- Runs: 58.5 miles/week across 102 runs (heatmap)
- Climbing: 4,787 ft gained per week
- Sleep: 122 nights averaging 7h30m, with sleep score distribution
- HRV: overnight heart rate variability averaging 122 ms
The takeaway: wearable makers are starting to open personal data APIs, letting users export and visualize their full health and training data on their own terms.
