Mastercard teams with Coinbase on x402 agentic payments for AI agents
MurrLincoln · x · 2026-10-22
Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong announced a partnership with Mastercard to enable agentic commerce: Mastercard will use Coinbase's agentic payments infrastructure — built on the x402 protocol and the Coinbase facilitator, running on Cloudflare — to let AI agents autonomously pay for digital services.
Armstrong argues agentic finance will transform the economy as agents take on more work on users' behalf. Coinbase is actively recruiting developers building in agentic commerce.
