JHU and MIT unveil OpenTac, an open full-stack ecosystem for 3D robot tactile sensing
mangahomanga · x · 2026-10-22
Researchers from Johns Hopkins and MIT CSAIL, led by Arik Slepyan, present OpenTac — an open, full-stack ecosystem for 3D tactile sensing on any robot surface. Anyone can design and fabricate high-density tactile skins for any robot body part, then read them out, simulate them, and share data across different sensors. The team stress-tested the system under many variations to demonstrate robustness.
