SSL cert bug plus PHP follow-up rated 3.0 on outage Richter scale, with bigger aftershocks feared
genmon · x · 2026-10-22
Developer genmon rates the current SSL certificate vulnerability — combined with the sucker-punch PHP follow-up — at 3.0 on his old Richter scale for outages (where 4.0 is 'broad human inconvenience without threat'). He warns that mass follow-up exploits could bring 6.0 or even 7.0 aftershocks, comparing the mood to Mount St. Helens rumbling in early 1980 before the eruption.
