AI career advice: build a long, discoverable track record instead of one side project
brandon_galang · x · 2026-10-22
The author argues that anyone can claim to be an AI builder now, but a bio claim plus one side project gives recruiters little signal about what you actually understand.
His advice:
- Share what you're building while building it, including what broke, what you tried, and what you learned, and make it easy to find from your profile.
- Keep at it over time to leave a long trail of receipts that's hard to manufacture the week you apply.
- He backs this with personal experience: by interview time he could talk fluently about his work even though his projects were mostly vibe coded — the value was the accumulated decisions and problems he could discuss, not a code review.
