iPhone Duo week-long review: fully redesigned dual-screen apps make or break the experience
BenBajarin · x · 2026-10-21
After about a week with iPhone Duo, Carolina Milanesi finds the hardware solid, but says apps redesigned for both screens are what truly lift the experience. Netflix, Oura, Claude and Instagram have done full redesigns; basic tablet-style support runs fine on the inner display but won't drive deeper engagement.
Her message to developers: update soon and lean on AI tools to speed up the work. Her message to Apple: keep lowering customization barriers and make the simulator great, since supply constraints mean smaller developers may not have secured a unit. She also notes the Duo's audience extends beyond early adopters to lifestyle and fashion buyers with disposable income — an opportunity for both Apple and app makers. Weight and crease mitigation also stood out.
