Seedance 2.5 Draft mode: ~11 test clips per video, cutting costs by ~73%

ByteDance's Volcano Engine launched a Draft mode for the Seedance 2.5 API on Sept 22: creators validate ideas with cheap 480P sample clips before generating a native 1080P final video. In its first month, end users averaged 11 Draft attempts before picking one for 1080P generation, cutting costs by 73%, versus 3 exploration attempts previously.
The company stresses high draft-to-final consistency in composition, motion, camera moves, lighting, and color. Cases include the film project Tian Xing Si, Chaoxi Guangnian's game cinematics, and NetEase's Naraka offline event trailer. Cost-wise, for a 5-second 1080P shot, Draft saves 30% vs competitors at 10 attempts and 43% at 20 attempts, supporting 2.2x more attempts per budget. Platforms like RunningHub and TapNow have integrated it; enterprises enable it via draft=true in the API, and C-end users can try it in Jimeng.
