OmniGraph: open-source graph database brings Git-style branching to AI agent memory
bigaiguy · x · 2026-10-21
Someone built "Git for AI agent memory" — OmniGraph, an MIT-licensed Rust graph database (object-storage native, Lance format) that lets multiple agents share one knowledge graph while branching, reviewing, and merging each other's changes.
The problem: long-running multi-agent setups silently overwrite each other's memory — no branches, no review, no change history.
Key capabilities:
- Git-style branching: each agent/task works on its own branch, adding entities, relations, docs, and evidence without touching main; three-way merges and time travel across the whole graph
- Typed ontology: .pg schemas declare node/edge types, keys, and constraints, enforced on every write
- Unified retrieval: graph traversal + vector ANN + full-text + Reciprocal Rank Fusion in one runtime
- Declarative clusters: cluster.yaml defines graphs, schemas, stored queries, and embedding providers; cluster plan previews, cluster apply applies
Example workflow: one agent ingests papers and extracts claims while another dedupes entities and links evidence, merging after review.
