The author asked ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Claude the same question set and analyzed all 1,329 cited sources:
- Trust bar: median DR of cited sites is 86; only 7% of citations come from sites under DR 30.
- Format: 73% of cited sources are blog content (listicles, articles, comparisons); product/landing pages just 7%, forums/social 3%.
- Original data: ChatGPT is the outlier—only 18% blog citations, 63% pointing to primary sources like pricing pages or docs.
- Interactivity: many cited pages include calculators, charts, tables or templates.
He rebuilt all 280 Outrank blog posts accordingly (275 now include interactive elements), arguing you should write for AI first and give humans a reason to click. A free AI citation analyzer tool is included.
