New use case: designing 3D-printed cement-casting molds with Claude, draft angles solved
Realistic_Comfort_78 · reddit · 2026-10-21
The poster wanted to 3D-print molds to cast a Japanese tōrō garden lamp in cement — a task so hard by hand (every part needs easy mold release) that they gave up months ago, then handed it to Claude. The screenshot shows Claude produced a parametric 3D preview app: three cast parts (base, firebox, roof) with per-part mortar volumes (329 ml / 690 g total), a 6 mm cable channel for an LED, 2-3° draft angles on every surface toward the mold-forming piece, STL export, and an npm run verify re-proof step. Not yet printed, so results are unverified.
