Characterizing a cheap SG90 servo with Claude's plan to build a MuJoCo model
_Stocko_ · x · 2026-10-21
The author is seriously characterizing a cheap SG90 servo tonight in order to build a MuJoCo simulation model for it. Claude came up with a measurement plan that has him pulling lots of gear off the shelf — an ESP32, driver boards, a load cell, breadboards and wiring laid out on the desk.
It's a hands-on example of LLM-assisted hardware work: measuring real actuator parameters for sim2real-style calibration before simulation.
