Rewriting Dependencies for Compilability: A Tradeoff Only Agents Make Practical
charliermarsh · x · 2026-10-21
Charlie Marsh highlights that Lust, a Rust-subset-to-C compiler project, simply "rewrote" pared-down versions of dependencies it couldn't compile (lacking async and most proc macros). He notes nobody would have done this before agents, and that compiling to C isn't the end of the idea — the point is being willing to make different dev-vs-release tradeoffs.
