Dev threatens org-wide OpenAI ban over API credits expiring in under a year
keithmifsud · reddit · 2026-10-21
A Reddit developer slams OpenAI's API credit expiry policy: credits purchased on Nov 18, 2025 will expire on Nov 1, 2026 — less than a full year of use. He asks for a way to extend the deadline, says he quit ChatGPT last year over exactly this, and only resubscribed for his team a week ago. He adds that ChatGPT's work mode times out after 11 minutes and never completes jobs even with extra credits, making it fit only for small tasks, and threatens an org-wide OpenAI ban if he doesn't get at least a month's extension.
