AI Recipe Slop Networks Monetized via Russian and Chinese Ad Tech

A DecryptAds report finds AI-generated recipe sites are among the fastest-growing AI slop niches, aggressively promoted on Pinterest and monetized via Russian and Chinese ad tech. Ads from Adobe, HBO Max, Siemens, Subaru, WSJ, Capital One, LinkedIn, Google Workspace, Pepsi, Anker and more were found running on these sites, draining budgets from legacy publishers. Some sites fake their identity entirely—one allegedly used AI photos of actor Emily Blunt to pose as a busy-mom baker named "Elena."
