RoboARC shows robots get no free retries—unlike coding agents that can just rerun tests
ManlingLi_ · x · 2026-10-21
Manling Li's team released RoboARC, a benchmark on reasoning under spatial constraints for robots.
A sharp observation in the reposted comment: take away full sim access and resets, and most "solved" tasks fail again. The author questions how much coding-agent skill is actually cheap retries — a repo gives you a free do-over on every test run, while a robot gets none. This highlights a bias in current agent evaluations: high pass rates on code tasks may partly come from unlimited retries rather than genuine reasoning.
