UC Berkeley releases Actor-Gatherer framework decoupling reasoning from context management
adityagp · x · 2026-10-21
A UC Berkeley team released the Actor-Gatherer framework, a new paradigm for agent context management across parallel, long-running sessions:
- Core idea: decouple knowing from acting — Actor agents perform tasks while a Gatherer proactively curates their context and tracks environment changes
- The authors frame it as the logical conclusion of prior context-management proposals (compaction, RLMs, CLMs), which mostly conflate gathering and acting
- It's bolt-on to any coding agent, with notable accuracy improvements
They invite users to try it in their favorite harness.
