Screenshot table to Excel in PowerShell: LLM only locates, code does the rest
dfinke · x · 2026-10-21
dfinke shares a PowerShell pipeline: grab a screenshot from the clipboard, use Jev (TypeSafe AI's decision model) to detect the table and return a bounding box, crop it out, have an LLM extract rows as JSON, then export via ImportExcel. The design principle: deterministic parts (clipboard, cropping, export) stay as code, and the LLM handles only what genuinely needs one. Results stay in $result, so you can keep piping, e.g. $result | sort Sales just works.
