Claude autonomously designs 318,484 proteins in 64 hours; 17 bind scorpion toxins in lab

Claude worked largely autonomously for 64 hours from one initial prompt and four follow-ups, generating 318,484 protein designs. Researchers tested 211 candidates in the lab and 17 successfully bound four dangerous scorpion toxins — a promising step toward antivenoms for stings that kill over 3,250 people annually, mostly children. Anthropic is releasing all 211 tested designs and their data.
