AI auto-optimization speeds genomics code 22x: extract_loci from 7.8s to 0.35s
jmschreiber91 · x · 2026-10-21
A developer shares results from running an AI auto-optimize tool on a genomics analysis library:
- The workhorse extractloci went from 7.8s to 0.35s on 167,750 loci with identical inputs (22x).
- Dinucleotide shuffling dropped from 17.1ms to 2.9ms; DeepLIFT reference generation from 117ms to 27ms.
- They also added a general-purpose saliency function (gradient x input) defaulting to the Majdandzic/Rajesh/@pkoo562 correction.
