Bombadil: a foundation model that decodes plants' bio-electrical signals
tdhopper · x · 2026-10-21
The team unveiled Bombadil, a foundation model for decoding plants' electrical language. Plant bio-electrical signals carry information about plant health and the shared environment. Using plant-attached sensors, a Transformer backbone feeds a self-supervised reconstruction head and a supervised stress-factor head, outputting signal reconstruction plus stress readouts like ΦII, ΦNPQ, LEF and CWSI — effectively letting us listen to plants.
