Robo-advisor veteran: AI automates financial analysis, but the panic-sell call still commands the fee
LexSokolin · x · 2026-10-21
LexSokolin, who helped build a robo-advisor before they were cool, shares his take on AI financial analysis:
- Teaching AI to do financial analysis is exciting — software now does work that used to take hours, and firms want more
- But getting people to trust AI with savings takes longer. The robo-advisor lesson: clients paid not just for investment choices, but for someone to call when markets fell
- Investing can be automated; people still want to talk to a person
- His conclusion: whoever takes the call when a client wants to sell everything will keep a fair share of the fee
