DSPy Monty Sandbox Interpreter v0.6.0 Lets Sandboxed Code Import Host-Built Modules
dbreunig · x · 2026-10-21
dbreunig released dspy-monty-interpreter v0.6.0, built on the new Pydantic Monty interpreter, with a key upgrade for DSPy sandboxed code execution:
- Host module injection: MontyInterpreter(externalmodules=...) passes host-built modules into the sandbox, so sandboxed code can do from helpers import summarize while staying isolated.
- Auto documentation: a new executioninstructions describes each host module to the model, showing stubs when provided, otherwise listing public attributes and signatures. Factory-provided modules are listed by name only and instantiated only on import.
- Monty 1.2 features: sandbox code can now use match statements, os.walk, and the csv, tomllib, hashlib, bisect, and os.path modules.
A practical bridge between sandbox safety and host capabilities for agent code-execution workflows.
