OpenAI adds 12-hour prompt caching to API, cutting costs for persistent agents
nikunjhanda · x · 2026-10-21
OpenAI's developer account announced that the API now supports a 12-hour prompt caching option. Persistent agents like dots can reuse context throughout the day, keeping shared instructions, tools, and context cached longer and paying the lower cached-input rate even when requests are hours apart — a direct cost cut for long-running agent applications.
