Agentic refactor: 600 PRs moved OpenClaw's web UI from Lit to Solid 2.0 in 2 weeks
steipete · x · 2026-10-21
steipete shared how an agentic loop migrated OpenClaw's Lit-based web frontend to Solid 2.0.
- First PR landed 7h after kickoff; direct Lit removal took 6d17h, plus another week to idiomatic Solid — 600 PRs total, mostly automatic, with check-ins every other day
- 666 requestUpdate references remained when Lit was dropped; zero by Oct 20. Files importing Lit went 796 → 0
- 255 explicitly named migration PRs plus 352 later UI refactors; migration peaked Oct 16 with 92 PRs
- Result: smaller JS/CSS footprint and finer-grained updates; the session conceded React could likely match user-visible performance
The public timeline page with 23 milestones and a searchable PR ledger was itself assembled by the agent.
