Citrini spends 3 months using Claude to design scorpion antivenom, 17 of 211 designs bind

Independent research firm Citrini Research spent three months working with Anthropic's internal research model to design an experimental scorpion antivenom — scorpion neurotoxins kill over 3,000 people a year.
- Of 211 designs produced and tested, 17 met binder criteria
- None bound more than one toxin, and none have been tested for neutralization
- The team's takeaway: the virtual biologist compressed a year's work into days, but biology still moves at life's pace — 64 hours of dry-lab design, 39 days for results, and 4-7 years to release
