Researchers Debate Embodied AI Stack: Steerable S0 Controllers and Closed-Loop S2 by 2027

Responding to ElijahGalahad's blog on "System 0 in the Astra era," researcher Siyuan Huang agrees that as spatial grounding (S1/S2) improves, we also need dynamics-grounded low-level controllers (S0) and expressive interfaces for steering physical interaction. He pushes further: what matters more is a more steerable and composable S1, plus a truly closed-loop S2 — with such systems, scalable learning and deployment could arrive around 2027.
