Microsoft says AI agents are like insider threats as 'frontier models can't be trusted'
sanjaykalra · x · 2026-10-20
Microsoft launched new enterprise security features framing AI agents as insider threats, warning that "frontier models can't be trusted."
- Headline feature is Guardian Agents, part of Project Perception (launched June), which originally fielded red-team (attacking), blue-team (detecting) and green-team (fixing) agents on the assumption that AI hackers come from outside.
- Guardian Agents instead monitor the AI agents already running inside a company.
- CEO Satya Nadella recently urged separating the supply of intelligence from authority over it.
- Most enterprises can't even inventory how many agents run in their environment today — that inventory comes first.
