UCLA Launches the First Independent Digital Humanities Department in the US

UCLA has become the first U.S. university to establish a freestanding Department of Digital Humanities, offering the nation's first B.A. in the field this fall. Digital humanities is already the largest minor in UCLA College, driven by student demand. The program pairs data science and coding with ethical inquiry — teaching students to ask who builds technology, whose biases it encodes, and whom it serves — and UCLA says this interdisciplinary background has helped graduates land roles at Google, Microsoft, and J.P. Morgan Chase.
