Lichess releases 1-billion-row chess dataset with Stockfish evaluations on Hugging Face

Lichess announced that its Lichess/chess-position-evaluations dataset on Hugging Face has surpassed 1 billion rows — 1,003,347,246 position evaluations totaling 44.1 GB, released under a CC0-1.0 license.
Each row contains a chess position (FEN) sampled from games played on Lichess, paired with a full Stockfish evaluation: the best line, search depth, and nodes searched. The dataset has roughly 2,600 downloads in the past month, and several models (including a 6.5M-parameter jev-chess and chess-gpt2 variants) have already been trained or fine-tuned on it.
It's one of the largest public chess evaluation datasets available, useful for training evaluation networks, chess models, or studying engine behavior.
