Chipsmith: open-source local app lets Claude Code compose chiptunes via Furnace
eindbaas · reddit · 2026-10-20
Chipsmith is a local web app where Claude Code writes chiptune songs as Furnace files: you prompt with optional style guides, structure and harmony; Claude writes scripts that build .fur files, which Furnace (as CLI) renders to audio. The browser UI lets you listen, split tracks, request new takes of clips, edit notes, arrange and export, with .fur files as the source of truth. The app itself (TypeScript/React/Vite) was also written by Claude Code guided by code guidelines and decision records, and composition is powered by repo skills: songwriting, the .fur format, and individual chips.
