Mac MCP Adds Six-Digit Pairing and Tiered Access for Agents Working Across Two Macs
bulutarkan · reddit · 2026-10-20
The Mac MCP maintainer demonstrates letting one MCP agent work across two Macs without treating every connection as blanket trusted:
- Explicit Mac-to-Mac pairing: the receiving Mac must approve via a six-digit check
- Connected Macs show their state (including Busy); access levels are visible, not buried in config
- Three-tier distinction: checking status, read-only access, and running actual tools
- Full access is a deliberate choice, not a side effect of discovery; each Mac still enforces its own permissions
The hard part wasn't discovering machines but making failures and permission boundaries understandable when delegation fails. Open source at github.com/bulutarkan/mac-mcp.
