Show HN: Death Plan Switch, an open-source dead man's switch for solo devs built with Claude Code
romeo19361 · hn · 2026-10-20
Peter Bishop, a developer with 25+ years in graphics and web tech, released Death Plan Switch, a self-hosted dead man's switch that notifies the right people and keeps his business running for clients if he goes missing or dies, MIT-licensed and free.
The project stems from 2012, when he was hospitalized and lost his business because data couldn't reach his technical second-in-command in time. He authored it by writing an extensive MD document and building with Claude Code; it passed 42 unit tests and he has used it for weeks. Clients see it as a strong trust feature for hosting services.
