AdaExploreBench Finds LLM Agents Struggle at Proactive Exploration in Evolving Environments
HKUST · hf · 2026-10-20
HKUST, UIUC, CUHK and CMU researchers introduce AdaExploreBench, benchmarking whether LLM agents can proactively discover hidden environment rules and adapt to unannounced changes—'adaptive exploration'. Results show current models struggle to seek relevant evidence and detect stale knowledge, exposing a key gap for deploying agents in unfamiliar, evolving environments. Code, dataset and project page are public.
