KAIST unveils next-gen humanoid: 12km/h walking, moonwalk, eyes-closed balance
CyberRobooo · x · 2026-10-20
KAIST's HuboLab, led by Professor Hae-Won Park, unveiled a self-developed next-gen humanoid lower-body platform: 165cm tall, 75kg, human-scale design for human-centric environments.
Key details:
- Walking speed up to 12km/h with balance maintained even eyes-closed or on rough terrain
- Complex human-specific moves like duck walk and moonwalk
- All core components — motors, reducers, motor drivers — designed and manufactured in-house
- Positioned as a platform for real industrial settings
Separately, KAIST Humanoid v0.9 (DRCD Lab with RAILAB) demonstrated onboard visual-feedback handling of objects up to 35kg while walking and lifting 20kg, with interaction skills learned via deep RL and human demonstrations.
