Alexandr Wang's intern cohort produced Hyperliquid, Cognition and Decagon — tens of billions in value
FinanceYF5 · x · 2026-10-20
Scale AI founder Alexandr Wang recalled his winter internship at trading firm HRT at age 19, where the 12 interns — nearly all from Harvard or MIT — went on to found Hyperliquid ($20B valuation, Jeff Yan), Cognition ($48B, Scott Wu), Decagon ($4.5B, Jesse Zhang), and Scale AI itself (Meta bought 49% for $14.3B). He told HRT's founders: "invest in the interns, write each one a seed check" — a portfolio that would now be worth billions.
