Notion is ending unlimited AI usage on Business and Enterprise plans, moving to a credit system: 1,500 Standard credits plus 500 Select credits per member per month. New workspaces switched on Oct 19; existing ones follow on Nov 2. Contracted enterprises follow their agreements.
- The credit split is about who picks the model: Auto mode (Notion chooses) draws Standard credits for writing, translation, Q&A and AI formulas; manually selected models or custom agents draw Select credits.
- Burn rates: simple Auto tasks cost 5 credits, complex ones 25; the same tasks on Opus 5.5 cost 50-150. So the 500 Select credits cover roughly ten simple tasks or barely three complex ones at top-tier models.
- Rules: the two pools can't merge, transfer or roll over; monthly reset. Exhausted credits pause AI features by default rather than charging; admins can enable paid overage. Personal Notion Agents can also tap a user's own ChatGPT Plus/Pro/Go quota.
- Easy to miss: AI Meeting Notes start drawing Standard credits from Dec 1.
