The Ayvalik National AI Film Festival in Türkiye screened 65 AI-assisted films by Turkish creators on Oct 16-17, selected for artistic merit by a review led by Erkan Ceylan of the Izmir Artificial Intelligence Film Platform.
Festival director Tarkan Kaynar says AI is reshaping traditional film production, with the biggest gains going to indie directors — scenes that once required large crews and big budgets can now be created digitally. The event aims to grow into a week-long festival by 2027.
The author suggests judging your own AI short the way a festival programmer would: would it hold a room of strangers for its full runtime, with sound up and nobody explaining which tools you used?
