Odyssey Plugs a Simulated Fly Brain Into Its World Model to Fly Around AI Harbors

Odyssey, a world-model company valued at over 10B RMB, connected a simulated fruit-fly brain to its Odyssey-3 foundation world model, letting the fly navigate environments generated entirely by the model's imagination. Odyssey-3 is an autoregressive diffusion Transformer that predicts object motion and environment change from prior frames and actions; it was trained on internet video, game recordings with keyboard/mouse input, and rigid-body physics simulation data, then distilled for real-time generation.
Odyssey-3 has previously served as a backbone with task-specific small policies, driving on Indian roads, riding horses in Red Dead Redemption 2, and controlling robot arms and humanoids. Unlike traditional setups requiring a pre-built physics simulator, a single prompt now generates a virtual training ground on the fly.
Founded in 2023, Odyssey's founders come from autonomous driving: CEO Oliver Cameron founded Voyage, CTO Jeff Hawke was a founding engineer at Wayve. It raised a $310M Series B in June at a $1.45B valuation, with investors including Amazon, Jeff Dean and Garry Tan.
