MySky: an open reference implementation for good social media algorithms
dhadfieldmenell · x · 2026-10-20
Jonathan Stray unveils MySky, a project aiming to build an open, state-of-the-art reference implementation of social media feed algorithms designed for individual and public good.
Key definitions: Open means open source, public API, open data (within privacy limits) and open science. State-of-the-art means modern AI-powered infrastructure, including prompt-based personalization controls now in beta. Reference implementation means real, usable software with real users. Good means controllable, transparent, informative, trustworthy and constructive — hence a highly configurable design focused on feeds rather than chatbots.
