Claude Code finds hidden camera in Airbnb smoke detector via Wi-Fi scan in 2 minutes
4KTV · x · 2026-10-20
A user says Claude Code scanned his Airbnb Wi-Fi, spotted an unknown box from a CCTV-only vendor streaming video out of the room every 4 seconds, and confirmed it by sending an installer's "find me" ping — the smoke detector above the bed beeped and its red recording light came on.
His 2-minute check routine:
- Join the room's Wi-Fi, open Claude Code, paste a ready-made prompt
- Have it list every device and flag anything camera/mic-like
- If flagged, kill the lights and shine a phone flashlight at smoke detectors, clocks, chargers — a lens glints back
The quoted tweet also mentions REA (Reverse Engineer Anything), a GitHub repo that jumped from 6,869 to 200k+ stars in a week.
