Heavy Grok Bot user argues personal agents must stay open-source, shares backup SOP

The author argues a personal agent shouldn't depend on any proprietary closed solution — instead, a controller (Hermes) orchestrates multiple components like Grok Bot as 'minions' to unlock each part without full vendor lock-in.
Responding to Michael Fenech's point that the deeper you rely on Grok Bot, the harder it is to rebuild from scratch, the author shares a backup-and-recovery SOP prompt:
- Map the setup: have each bot document its own job, rules, memory, skills and routines, flagging anything inaccessible or missing
- Save a recovery pack externally via Google Drive or OneDrive, outside the account
Bottom line: if you lost access tomorrow, could you rebuild? Open source plus external backups is the only way.
