The Institute for Progress (IFP) has published a 23k-word research report on US-China AI competition, based on six months of research by Georgia C. Adamson, Konstantin Pilz, and Jeremie Harris.
The report examines how Chinese AI companies' access to compute and their distillation of American models translate into the current US-China capabilities gap. It also includes an interactive analytical model that visualizes changes in the US AI lead.
